Engaging Employees in a Virtual Environment

It seems like yesterday when the World Health Organization declared the Coronavirus outbreak in March of 2020 and companies quicking shut their doors, sending employees home to work. Virtual working isn’t new, in fact it started in the 1980s fueled by technological pioneers designing, building and writing code from home and then in the early 2000s the transition from technological freelancers spread to corporations. Virtual and remote working have become the norm. But how do we as leaders manage to keep employees engaged? I’m sure we all believe to some degree that it is possible to embrace both the virtual and physical space and still have a high level of productivity, but maintaining employee engagement into the unforeseeable future might be another story.
